Queensland Laser Vision

Assessment & Eligibility

Assessment Process

For your assessment:

• Allow 1 hour of your time

• Wear your spectacles

• Leave your soft contact lenses out for at least 3-4 days prior

• Leave RGP/hard contacts/Ortho-K lenses out for at least 2-3 weeks prior

• Bring sunglasses: your eyes will be sensitive to the light and glare

• DO NOT DRIVE after the assessment as your pupils will be dilated

During the assessment we use eye drops which will dilate your pupils to gain more accurate scans and measurements. Their effect usually lasts 3-4 hours, but can last up to 24 hours.

Reading vision will be blurry for around 3-4 hours. Contact lenses make the results inaccurate, so it’s important to follow the above guide.

If you’ve never had laser eye surgery before, your initial assessment is free. However, if you’d had laser eye surgery at another clinic in Australia, or overseas, and you’re now experiencing visual change or need a check-up, these consultations are different and more involved than an initial assessment process, so a consultation fee is applicable.
