Amadeus™ II Microkeratome LASIK Procedure
The Amadeus™ II microkeratome is a highly advanced instrument used during the LASIK procedure. Before the surgeon applies the laser to reshape the cornea, the computer-driven microkeratome is used to precisely cut a flap in the outer layer of the cornea to expose the softer tissue underneath.
The Amadeus™ II microkeratome uses virtually fail-proof technology and unsurpassed material quality – it is in our opinion the world’s best Keratome. It is a very sophisticated device that self checks and calibrates to ensure optimum performance each and every time. Some centres are promoting a laser-based system for creating the Lasik flap. Our research shows that at present there is no benefit to the patient or the surgeon in this system. We believe that there is no evidence that it results in better vision, but it does add significant cost to the surgery.
